Eastern Theory Facial Massage

Course Description:
Eastern Theory Facial Massage is based on concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Pressure point treatment and hot stone massage is taught along with specific techniques for the facial muscles. Techniques introduced are easy to learn and do not require prior knowledge of Eastern bodywork concepts or previous training of hot stone massage. You can integrate these techniques into your existing massage practice to offer your clients a new innovative technique.

Method of Learning:
PowerPoint presentation and hands on participation with a hand out. Supplies needed for this class will be provided.

Learning Outcomes:
The participant learns to apply massage, pressure points and hot stones in an integrated fashion while treatment is done on the face.

Learning Objectives:

  • Specifically work facial muscles to enhance circulation and tissue metabolism.
  • Increased facial circulation brings moisture and nutrients to the tissues which aides in cell regeneration.
  • Learn to apply pressure points to the face and which meridians they affect. This helps to balance the Chi (energy) and to restore and improve facial conditions.
  • Learn to apply hot stones to further increase the blood flow to facial tissue and increase relaxation to muscles.
  • Hot stones applied to the sinus cavities appropriately will help relieve sinus congestion.

    Prerequisite:
    Completion of at least a 500-Hour Massage Therapy/Bodywork program or other Health-Care Practitioner program
