Course Description:
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a type of deep tissue massage therapy that specifically designed to treat chronic pain and tight muscles that can cause muscular weakness, pain and numbness.

Through this course, a massage therapist will be able to develop their ability to reduce muscle tightness and pain. With this type of therapeutic treatment technique, painful areas and muscle tightness are relieved with specific techniques. Students will learn how to use basic Swedish massage method with specific friction, muscle stripping to muscle attachments and muscle bellies to address areas of hyperirritability and tension. Therapeutic massage techniques such as NMT have become an important basis for clients that are in search ways to make their daily living activities enhanced. Add this type of therapeutic massage to your practice increase the types of massage you can offer your clients.

Method of Learning:
PowerPoint presentation and manual. Demonstrations with hands on practice.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will understand how to alleviate chronic pain and tight muscles that are often the result of excess neuromuscular stimulation. Therapists will be able to effectively apply methods learned to use this deep tissue work address trigger points that refer sensations of pain, weakness or numbness.

  • Be able to complete an orthopedic assessment of any given condition
  • Be able to develop a treatment plan and explain your rational of treatment
  • Be able to explain what is physiologically occurring and why you are doing the chosen treatment to your client
  • Understand and know neurological laws

    Prerequisite:
    Completion of at least a 500-Hour Massage Therapy/Bodywork program or other Health-Care Practitioner program
