Course Description:
Orthopedic Assessment provides many priceless testing techniques to discover what type of dysfunction may be causing our clients pain, limited range of motion and difficulty with daily activities. Orthopedic assessment is used to obtain information and narrow the focus of dysfunction as well as try to determine the cause of the dysfunction. With the knowledge gained from Orthopedic Assessment, you will be able to evaluate each of your client's as an individual, to eliminate the guess work out of their soft tissue dysfunction. By completing the assessment process you will be able to prefect your treatment plan, and choose the most effective home care.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants learn many orthopedic assessment tools that are important to identifying the cause of soft tissue dysfunction. Such skills will set the massage therapist apart from all others, creating higher standards for therapeutic massage.

Learning Objectives:

  • Having an understanding of orthopedic assessment
  • You will know the order of assessment of injuries
  • You will have the ability to define: ROM, active, passive, manual muscle test and know what type of tissue they are testing and how to test each
  • You will know what functional assessment is and why we need to know it
  • You will have a good understanding of how to perform special test and how to perform them
  • You will know the 5 steps of rehabilitation
  • You will have a good understanding of the muscle involved in each direction of movement

    Prerequisite:
    Completion of at least a 500-Hour Massage Therapy/Bodywork program or other Health-Care Practitioner program
