Course Description:
Shiatsu is a healing art that uses the power of touch, pressure and stretching to provide physical and emotional healing through the Eastern perspective of meridian therapeutics. This modality employs the integration of Eastern and Western therapy philosophies. Practitioners use pressure of thumbs, fingers, palms and elbows to bring about a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of well-being. Not only will your clients love this new modality you will have added to your skill set, but the practitioner will also be left feeling balanced and energized. Method of Learning:
PowerPoint presentation, lecture and hands on techniques.

Learning Outcomes:
Practitioners will learn to effectively plan a shiatsu session.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the characteristics and fundamental differences for the Yin/Yang aspects of energy
  • Be able to define Chi, Kyo and Jitsu
  • Understand how Chi circulates in the body
  • Be able to differentiate which Meridians are Yin and which are Yang
  • Be able to identify the location for the12 major Channels/Meridians & 2 mid- line Channels.
  • Be able to define the Hara, assess meridians through the Hara and design a treatment plan and know its location and function
  • Be able to define tsubo, and understand how they relate to acupuncture
  • Know the five elements
  • Understand the use of Moxubustion

    High School Diploma or GED
